Collector Car Data Plate/Serial # Plate Embossing

Key Words:  vehicle - auto embossing - VIN tag - VIN - ID tag - metal tag - blank - identification - embossed

We have two embossing machines that give us the capability to emboss 1/8" and 3/16" numbers/letters on blank automobile reproduction metal serial number plates, data plates, engine tags and body number tags, just as they were embossed at the factories when the cars were new.

Embossed characters differ from stamped characters in that they protrude out from the data plate, while stamped (or debossed) characters sink into the data plate.

Nearly all of the American and British cars from the '40s to the present that have embossed data plates use either 1/8" or 3/16" numbers/letters on their various data plates.  We can emboss the following letters, numbers and symbols on your blank data tag:

1/8" -- Arial --    ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ  1234567890  (c)  (a)  (/)

3/16" -- Arial --   ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ   1234567890   (-)   (/)

If your data plate consists of characters that match one, or both, of the patterns above, then we can emboss it for you.

(NOTE:  We can emboss any data plates, as long as they are not taller than 2.125 inches nor wider than 3.5 inches (about the size of a credit card), due to the limits of the carriages on our machines.)

1)  You will need to provide us with the following:

    a) a blank data plate to be embossed
    b) a self-addressed, stamped envelope to return the embossed plate, and any other items you sent, back to you
    c) either the original data plate showing exactly what you want stamped and where it is to be stamped on the plate, or a drawing of the data plate with the information printed exactly as you want us to emboss it on the blank data plate, including the size characters you want used.
    d) in cases where a VIN tag is to be embossed, proof of ownership of the car with that particular serial number will need to be provided (a copy of either the car Title or registration, with your name listed as the owner, will suffice).  If you send the original VIN tag along with the blank, and just want it reproduced exactly as originally stamped, because of deterioration of the original tag, etc, there will be no need to send any other proof of ownership.  (Note: Many auto makers, both American and British, encode other information besides the VIN on the VIN tag, such as the interior and exterior color combinations, accessories, engine/transmission type, etc. If you wish to change any of this extra coded information to more desirable combinations for your restoration project, while retaining the original VIN itself, we can do this, as long as the coded build information to be changed is not a part of the recorded VIN on the Title or registration.  Be sure to send a copy of the car registration or Title with the original VIN tag, or your drawing of the VIN tag, so we can verify this.)

2)  Cost is $20 per tag embossed, if there is only one line of characters.  If more than one line of characters, there is an additional cost of $10 per line after the first line, due to the time it takes to set the machines for each line.

3)  Payment can be by cash, personal check, or money order.
